This place was beautiful…more crowded than the Badlands…less crowded than Yellowstone. The hiking trails were lush and lovely.
I learned a little about people on the way. First, most people who hike hike with big walking sticks called trekking poles. I could see myself getting into that…you know with the SPF white shirt and floppy hat. Also, people backpack…for fun! They like to carry all of their necessary items in heavy packs and walk for a few days and then sleep in isolated areas. I read an article called “Why Backpack?” at one of the National Parks. I am starting to understand that these people are their own breed, and I respect their love of isolation from civilization and their love of comradery with one another on their journey. I think it is funny that my being puzzled by this hobby bothers Todd. And frequently on hikes, he says “See babe this is what backpacking is. Hike a few miles. Chill at some pretty spot.” To which I usually comment, “Do they bring their books?” Todd will then chuckle and say, “Books are heavy.” We are then full circle, and I am just as perplexed as when we started the whole discussion.

Now we’re talking! The Tetons! (named I think by very lonely French explorers…) I used to live in Jackson Hole — I performed in a summer theater called DIRTY JACK’S WILD WEST THEATER.
Blessings to you both!!!
